A Journey Through Prince Edward County

Take a journey from Toronto through the Land of Prince Edward County, which to this day has retained its unique character and kept its heritage. Located in the “Golden Triangle”, Prince Edward County is renowned for its rich history, gastronomy and private vineyards known for its premium wine.

Many British Loyalists and former inhabitants of the American Colonies settled in Prince Edward County.  Prince Edward County is a charming blend of rural Ontario and the second largest area of Loyalist architecture, next to Williamsburg. You will learn about the first settlers, soldiers, farmers, sailors, millionaires and smugglers.

A visit to Fort Henry which is located in Kingston, Ontario. The original fort was built during the war of 1812 when Ontario was a British colony known as Upper Canada. The fort was built to protect the Kingston Royal Navy from a possible United States attack. Experience a historical re-enactment of British military life, drills and battle tactics.

After a tour of Fort Henry, we will drive Hwy 33 better known as the scenic and historic “Loyalist Parkway” along the Lake Ontario. At the Bay of Quinte, we will use the old Glenora Ferry to reach the “Mysterious Lake” on the mountain to discover one of Ontario‘s natural wonders or “Lake of Gods”. Cloaked in mystery and legend, the turquoise lake defies all known geographical and geological theory being located 60 meters above Lake Ontario. We will stop along the way to visit a winery and for those with a sweet tooth to try some special ice cream or pastries of the County. On the way back, we will pass through historic towns and villages where you can admire the farmlands, vineyards, art studios and antique stores.
