Breakfast at the hotel. Departure with luggage and transfer to Melk (approx. 220 km / 2h20).

Melk is a cultural and spiritual gem of Austria, dating back to a medieval fortress built on a granite cliff above the Danube. It once served as the residence and burial place of the Babenberg dynasty, the first rulers of Austria. In the 11th century, the fortress was granted to Benedictine monks, who founded the Melk Abbey, still active today and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Continue to Dürnstein (approx. 30 km / 30 min), a charming town surrounded by vineyards. Since the Middle Ages, Dürnstein has been the unofficial wine capital of the Wachau Valley. The town is filled with wine bars and cellars — a true paradise for wine lovers.

According to legend, Richard the Lionheart was once imprisoned here in the ruins of Kuenringer Castle. The Augustinian Monastery and its baroque Church of the Assumption of Mary are among the highlights of this romantic town.
