Slovenia is a small but surprisingly diverse country located at the very heart of Europe, close to Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, Milan, and Budapest. In one day, you can visit Alpine lakes, swim in the Adriatic Sea, and explore thermal and mineral springs. Slovenia is the greenest country in Europe, with 60% of its land covered by forests, and the water in Slovenia is among the cleanest in Europe, drinkable directly from the tap. Slovenia is home to 16 major thermal centers (16 famous health resorts) specializing in various treatments. We will visit two thermal centers: Rogaska Slatina with a 400-year tradition and Portorož, a port on the Adriatic Sea. The Adriatic coast of Slovenia and Croatia is rightly called a paradise under the sun.

After the tour, depart for Slovenia (crossing the border) and transfer to the famous thermal resort of Rogaska Slatina, check-in at a 4* hotel. Dinner at the hotel (from 6:00 to 8:30 PM).
Day 3 – Rogaska - Maribor - Ptuj - Rogaska
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart for an excursion: a bus tour through the medieval cities of Slovenia - Maribor and Ptuj.
The city of Ptuj (40 km) is considered the oldest inhabited city in Slovenia and has the status of a museum city, with architectural monuments protected by the state. Above the city stands Ptuj Castle, which now houses the Regional Museum. The picturesque castle fits harmoniously into the old town ensemble. The museum displays a typical Slovenian carnival mask, the Kurent, originating from this region.
Next, head to Maribor (19 km), located on the Drava River, nestled between the Pohorje mountain range and the wine hills. The city’s preserved medieval walls and towers on the Pyramid Hill, the ancient river port with a Water Tower housing a wine cellar, the Jewish and Round Towers, Jewish Street and the 15th-century synagogue, the Franciscan monastery, the 16th-century Town Hall Square, the 18th-century Marian Column, and the Slovenian National Theatre are all worth visiting.
In Maribor, you will see the world’s oldest vine, over 450 years old, which was added to the Guinness Book of Records in 2004. The vine still bears fruit. You will also visit the House of the Old Vine. Much of the wine from this vine is used as official gifts for dignitaries, including Pope John Paul II, Emperor Akihito of Japan, and former US President Bill Clinton. Don’t miss the chance to try wine from the famous Calvary vineyards. Return to the hotel. Dinner at the hotel.

Then, take a funicular ride up to Ljubljana Castle and enjoy panoramic views of the city. Free time.

Trieste, an Italian city on the border with Slovenia, only became Italian in 1954, which gives it a distinctive character, more resembling Vienna or Budapest. Notable landmarks include ancient Roman buildings, St. Justus and St. Michael’s Churches, and a Venetian fortress. The main square, Piazza Unità d’Italia, is the largest in Italy and features the Palazzo del Comune and Palazzo Governale. Free time for shopping. Near the center of Trieste is Miramare Castle, one of the largest in northern Italy.
Next, head to Piran, an architectural gem known as “Slovenian Venice.” Piran was once part of the Venetian Republic, and its medieval charm remains.
