Day 1. Meeting at Salt Lake City Airport. The Great Salt Lake from Antelope Island State Park. Evening transfer to Tremonton, UT for overnight stay.

Day 2. Twin Falls, Idaho. Visit to Craters of the Moon National Monument. Sun Valley and Ketchum, where Ernest Hemingway’s estate was located, and where he died and is buried. Overnight in Ketchum, ID.

Day 3. The Lost River and Lemhi mountain ranges. The towns of Salmon and Darby (with a visit to Chief Joseph Ranch — known as the Dutton Ranch in the TV series Yellowstone). Overnight in Hamilton.

Day 4. Missoula and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Boat cruise on the Far West across Flathead Lake with views of the Mission and Swan Mountains. Overnight in Kalispell, MT.

Day 5. Glacier National Park. Lake McDonald. Trail of the Cedars and a 2-hour hike to Avalanche Lake. Going-to-the-Sun Road to Logan Pass. Mountains, waterfalls, blooming alpine meadows. Overnight in Cut Bank, Montana.

Day 6. Great Falls. Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and the Charles M. Russell Museum of Western Art. Black Eagle Dam on the Missouri River. Overnight in Glendive.

Day 7. First half of the day in Theodore Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota, famous for its magnificent prairies, badlands, and wild mustangs. Old Town Hall Theater in Medora. Pompeys Pillar National Monument. Overnight in Billings.

Day 8. Swords Rimrock Park. Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range. Bathing in Chico Hot Springs. Overnight in Livingston, MT.

Day 9. Montana Grizzly Encounter and Palisade Falls. Lunch in West Yellowstone. Mesa Falls. Rexburg and Yellowstone Bear World. Overnight in Idaho Falls.

Day 10. Idaho Potato Museum in Blackfoot. Old Town Gallery in Pocatello. Transfer to Salt Lake City. Departure from Salt Lake City International Airport.

 

Tour cost: $1,850 (includes transportation on a comfortable tourist-class bus, hotels, tour services, and entrance fees to listed attractions).

Single-room supplement: $750.

Not included: airfare and meals.

Dates: July 19–28 and July 30–August 8.

Arrival in Salt Lake City on the first day before 13:00.

Departure from Salt Lake City after 15:00 on the last day.

 

Note: Idaho–Montana–North Dakota is largely a new tour, so some adjustments may be made as additional attractions are added. The final version will be provided in the invitation letter sent 4 weeks before the start of the tour. It will also be as complete as possible.
